Genre Research: Aladdin

1. I chose this movie to research mainly because the magic bracelet that grants you the wishes universal idea is based of the genie granting wishes from an item, the oil lamp. 2. I really liked the drive and the mindest, along with the greed and selfishness. Those four ideas are what I want to base the main character on or struggles they deal with in interactions. 3. I did not like the storyline, while it was straightforward, again it was slow and could of been faster.

Genre Research: KIN

1. This movie has a lot of unknowns going on throughout the whole movie. There is the story line of the main character kid, but they introduce a lot of unknown details about his brother and the brothers problems.  2. This movie had a chaser and a higher up character that the main character did not know about, this leaves a lot of mystery as part of the movie shows the whole thing as a set up. The movie also leaves a big cliffhanger which I plan to use. 3. The only element I did not like was the explanation of the unknow charters, they did a brief summary at the end but it was not enough.

Genre Research: Scary Movie

1. First, the genre we chose is mystery/thriller, this movie and its series mock horror movies making them thrillers but also comedy. I want to incorporate some jumps and also some laughter. 2. What nice about the movie and series in specific is that they have very common sense moments like if someone is chasing you with a knife, you run and try to throw something at them, not sit there and let it happen. 3. I only did not like how the jokes got old, it is the same attitude throughout the whole movie.

Genre Decision

Good afternoon, Bloggers! Finally the genre decision is here.  For our opening sequence and final task, we have decided on the thriller/mystery genre. We decided on this because it fits most with our pitch and the vision we have for it. With the thriller genre, we will be able to make use of all the shots and editing that are on theme for the genre, and that we are fond of. We were originally debating a comedy but ultimately ended up going with a thriller to make it something we would be more likely to enjoy making. The sounds in thrillers are something that we are all familiar with and are comfortable working with, whether that be editing them in or finding them on the web. All four of us are thriller movie fanatics, which was definitely another contributing factor.   We can’t wait to make a thrilling sequence!  We can't wait for you guys to see it. Anyway, thank you all for tuning in, see you next time!

Genre research: Thriller

Good morning Bloggers! Today I start my genre research. Today's genre is all about thrillers. Common camera angles I have seen in this genre are high and low angles, however high angles are more common as they convey shock and fear in thrillers. Dutch angles are also frequent in thrillers to generate an uneasy feeling or that something is ominous. Eye-level angles are frequently used with zooms to create tension or show emotion, for example, it could be used to show fear in someone's eyes.   Camera movements in thrillers that I have seen most prominently is tracking which could show someone being following. Zooms are also used as they could seem unnatural or artificial, making them perfect for thrillers. Pans and tilts are also used to show scenes and characters, but from what I have seen, tracking and zooms are more common.   Camera shots I have seen in thriller movies are establishing shots, wide shots, medium close-ups, long shots, medium shots, close-ups, extreme close-u

Research Genre: Dark Comedy

Good morning, Bloggers! Today is the last genre research blog before our decision!  Camera Angles, Movement, and Shots:   Dark Comedy employs the use of various unusual angles to infuse certain comedic or dark elements. The use of low angles is important when establishing characters with dominance or highlighting flaws within an important character. On the contrary, high angles typically show the vulnerability of a character. Though, in Dark Comedies high angles are used to foreground the absurdity in the plotline. Dutch angles can be used to create a disorientating effect on the audience. Oftentimes, this heightens the discomfort in the narrative.    Regarding camera movements, a plethora of action-packed elements are incorporated. Most commonly, tracking shots, unsteady handheld shots, pans, zooming, and boom shots are used. To start, tracking shots are used to follow a character creating a sense of suspense. Unsteady handheld shots are often employed to contribute to the uneasy
